Modelling the Long Range Evolution of the Oil Refining Industry in Canada: The MARKAL Model Approach
, , , and BibTeX reference
The oil refining industry is an important part of the Canadian energy supply system which has to adapt itself to the new energy demand patterns emerging from the post-oil-crisis era. This report presents the structure and the possible uses of a long range system analysis tool which models the evolution of this industrial sector over a multi-decade time horizon. An illustration of the results obtainable through this modelling approach is given, based on the data concerning the Québec refinery sector. Also the usefulness and the feasibility of a multi-region model is discussed.
