During my Master's at ENAC (Ecole Nationale de l'Aviation Civile, France), I aspired to work in the domain of operations research to conclude my thesis internship. I was very fortunate to secure my internship under the supervision of Professor Guy Desaulniers in the domain of the mining industry. It was my first introduction to the family of GERAD and am honored to be part of the renowned group. I initially wanted to work in the aviation industry but the internship has channeled my focus on operations research and propelled me to pursue my work in the field of the mining industry.
I continued my work and am pursuing my Ph.D. at Polytechnique Montreal under the supervision of Prof. Guy Desaulniers and Prof. Michel Gamache (Department of Mathematics and Industrial Engineering). My Ph.D. work focuses on the application of operation research strategies to accelerate the performance of block scheduling in open-pit mines. I am currently working on cutting planes, and heuristics and their integration in open pit mine scheduling. I thoroughly enjoy my work and am grateful for the opportunity to expand my knowledge in such an intellectually stimulating environment. I am truly honored to be a member of GERAD and work in such a conducive environment. Being part of GERAD, surrounded by inspiring peers, has greatly enriched my academic journey.
As a member of GERAD, I had a desire to repay my gratitude by offering my services. I joined the Student Office as a student representative to contribute to the mission of improving GERAD and making it one of the best places for students to flourish. I am resolved to listen to your thoughts present them to the GERAD assembly and maintain transparency between the students and administration. I believe that collaboration among all GERAD members fosters both academic and intellectual growth. The diverse and unique perspectives within the student community are crucial to nurturing innovation. I welcome any input or feedback you may have and will ensure that your concerns are addressed.
