Wissem Ahmed Zaid is a doctoral student in mathematics at Polytechnique Montréal, specializing in operations research.
Her research focuses on network optimization using metaheuristics, in particular tabu search, with an emphasis on network resilience in the event of natural disasters.
Under the supervision of Professor Alain Hertz, she explores advanced strategies for improving the robustness and efficiency of networks in critical contexts.
Before embarking on academic research, Wissem acquired solid professional experience as a research officer at the Banque Centrale d'Algérie and as an account manager in the commercial sector, where she held supervisory roles in customer service. Wissem is founder, spokesperson and coordinator of the OR@Africa initiative, dedicated to promoting operations research on the African continent.
