I will present an overview of several projects on different topics in statistics completed on regularization and clustering with my former and current post-docs and PhD students. The projects are on statistical genetics, causal inference, biased sampling, shape clustering, de-coarsening and change-point problems, and post selection inference (PoSI). If time permits, I will also talk about some ongoing projects, including measuring data influence on variable selection, the Living Heart Project and some research in other areas.
Short Bio: I was born in Abadan, Iran. I completed my BSc and MSc at Shahid Beheshti University of Tehran, and PhD at McGill in 1998. I received the 1998 Pierre Robillard award from the Statistical Society of Canada (SSC) for the best PhD thesis defended at a Canadian university. I was an assistant professor at York University (1998-2000). I joined McGill in 2000 as an assistant professor. I am currently a full professor in the Dept of Math and Stat, McGill University. I have been on the editorial board of the Canadian Journal of Statistics (CJS) and the Journal of the American Statistical Association (JASA).
