Toint, Université de Namur, Département de Mathématique, Rempart de la Vierge 8, Namur, Belgique, 5000 The talk will motivate and introduce several new ideas in the framework of global convergence, in the sense of enforcing convergence to critical points of non convex problems from arbitrary starting points. Comparisons will be conducted at a theoretical level between trust-region methods and new quadratic and cubic regularization techniques. Numerical experience will also be reported and discussed. |
