Gislaine Mara Melega
Student (Postdoctoral), GERAD
Biography
Gislaine Mara Melega started her postgraduate studies in 2011, under the supervision of professor Silvio Alexandre de Araujo, at the São Paulo State University, where she obtained both her master's (2013) and PhD degrees (2017) in Mathematics with emphasis on applied mathematics. Her PhD research focused on mathematical models and solution approaches for integrated lot-sizing and cutting stock problems. During the third year of her Ph.D., she spent 9 months in Montréal as a PhD student visitor, under the supervision of prof. Raf Jans, where she worked on a literature review on integrated problems. After finishing her PhD, she started as a postdoctoral research scientist in the department of Production Engineering at the Federal University of São Carlos. During this period, she worked under the supervision of professor Reinaldo Morabito developing mathematical models and exact solution approaches to integrated problems with sequence-dependent setups. Gislaine is currently working on mathematical models for assembly line balancing problems, and models and algorithms for complex production planning problems with inventory allocation decisions. Her main research interests lie in the design and implementation of Operations Research techniques to solve problems arising in production planning, scheduling, and logistic settings.
